About Trade Source IRE / Our Contractor Checks

How we check contractors.

Clear standards. Practical checks. Informed choices. Checks depend on the trade and activity, and only completed, documented checks should be shown on a contractor profile.

What our review can cover

We review information supplied by contractors and, where applicable, check it against official sources. The checks completed depend on the trade, the advertised work and our membership policy.

01

Business details

Trading name, business contact details and relevant business records.

02

Insurance evidence

Named business, stated activities, cover and policy dates where an insurance document is reviewed.

03

Trade registrations

Relevant official registers for electrical, gas, energy-upgrade or other regulated work where applicable.

04

Skills & site safety

Role-specific qualifications, training or safety information relevant to the work advertised.

05

Work & references

Experience, services, previous-work examples and references, while identifying contractor-supplied material.

06

Tax-clearance status

Declaration or Revenue verification where required by the applicable membership policy.

07

Membership standards

Application evidence and approval are separate from subscription payment or advertising placement.

08

Updates & concerns

Review of updated details, expiring evidence or concerns reported about a listing.

09

Transparent records

Records of what was reviewed, how it was checked and when, without publishing sensitive documents.

Understand the evidence — not a live contractor record

Pending, expired and not checked do not mean verified.

Contractor declaration

Information provided by the contractor and not presented as independent verification.

Document reviewed

Trade Source IRE has reviewed a relevant document and should record its review date.

Official register checked

A relevant official register has been checked where applicable.

What our checks do not mean

Not Garda vetting. Not a guarantee of workmanship.

Being listed on Trade Source IRE does not guarantee the quality of work, safety on site or a particular outcome. Your statutory consumer rights remain unaffected, and you should complete your own project-specific checks before appointing a contractor.

Before you appoint a contractor

  • Confirm who will carry out the work
  • Check current credentials and relevant cover
  • Agree scope, price and payment stages in writing
  • Ask about references, certificates and completion documents
